High Performing Teams

In today's environment, the success of an enterprise, an operational unit or a significant business initiative is almost always dependent on having a team of people who are able to work effectively together to achieve common goals.  The search for winning and high performance teams is a focus for all organisations in their search for sustainable commercial success.

Identifying the need for team development

The need for team development manifests itself in many ways and levels across an organisation.  Some typical scenarios are:

  • A mismatch between clarity of direction at the top of an organisation and lack of execution in the key client-facing or support areas of the organisation.  Managers are unwilling to exercise initiative to make decisions.
  • There is a significant change in strategy or a business transformation programme to be implemented.
  • The management team has a global footprint and the challenge of different time zones or cultures constrains and dilutes the overall success of an operation.
  • A new executive hits the cultural barriers of "the way we do things here".
  • Two different organisations are dependent on each other e.g. post-merger, a joint venture, an outsourcing contract.  They need to learn how to optimise joint performance.
  • A brand new team is formed.
  • A team that has been static for a period of time needs re-energising.
